"Osteopathy is a science as vast as the heavens" A.T. Still

Dr Josh Naylor
BClinSc. MOstMed

I am an experienced bodyworker with over a decade of working with people. Initially trained as a remedial massage therapist, I studied various forms of western and non-western bodywork. Finding that I would often refer to osteopaths when I felt a client needed more assistance, I decided to take the plunge and completed a Bachelor of Clinical Science and Masters of Osteopathic Medicine. My final research thesis explored the lived experience of Australian osteopaths who regularly treat paediatric patients, and afforded me the opportunity to interview many leading Australian osteopaths in this field.

Since graduating I have continued my studies with rehab specialists, renegade physiotherapists, renowned movement teachers and received wonderful mentorship with leading Australian osteopaths in the field of cranial, biodynamic and paediatric osteopathy.

Thousands of hours of treatments later, I have only deepened my appreciation of the living body and its constant striving for health as an intelligent, dynamic and integrated system. I feel deeply fortunate to have found the osteopathic framework, one in which the physical, physiological and emotional aspects of health can all be equally attended to.

I have learnt as much if not more from my own chronic pain and injuries, and I would include my own health struggles as significant mentors. I have a lived experience of being a patient and this informs my approach as an osteopath.

I am both a father and a stepfather, and, outside of bodywork, I have had a varied and colourful employment history of working with people of all ages and walks of life. I understand the complexities of being a human in this modern world and I feel that effective osteopathic guidance must include this.

My practice is deeply and ongoingly influenced by the study of embryology, Chinese Internal Arts (Taijiquan and Qigong), the work of Feldenkrais and Ida Rolf, Yoga, and love for the majesty of the living world.

I pay my deepest respects to the Awabakal people, the custodians of the unceeded lands and waterways upon which I live and work.
